Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Baker Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975. The United States has dropped four rigs since January 24, and 255 rigs since February 1, 2019, Baker Hughes' most recent rotary rig count has revealed. US Horizontal Rig Count is at a current level of 713.00, up from 708.00 last week and down from 904.00 one year ago. This is a change of 0.71% from last week and -21.13% from one year ago. US Natural Gas Rig Count is at a current level of 107.00, down from 109.00 last week and down from 193.00 one year ago. This is a change of -1.83% from last week and -44.56% from one year ago. The North American rig count is issued as a service to the petroleum industry. In 1944 they began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity.
