Insider trading legal for congressmen

The bill prohibits the use of non-public information for private profit, including insider trading by members of Congress and other government employees. It confirms changes to the Commodity Exchange Act , specifies reporting intervals for financial transactions. The way that the laws in the United States are currently written, insider trading (trading with the benefit of non-public information) is perfectly fine for members of Congress. That's right - members of Congress can trade using insider information and it is perfectly legal. Is it legal for congress members to do a bit of “insider trading”? Plain and simple NO! Despite all the perks and privileges of their jobs, insider trading is punishable for members of Congress and every member of their organizations on Capitol Hill. There is a catch though to indicting them on this.
